ESA vintage school desk and chair revamp

Showing years of use when we bought the pair including a burn mark to the top of the desk!

Here's what we did to improve them and make them good for another 50 years use........

Firstly we sanded all the parts that we we going to keep - so everything with the exception of the seat of the chair, a new one was made from locally sourced Ash.

The burn mark was cut out of the desktop and a contrasting Walnut bow insert was used as an infill the desk body and lid were oiled to protect the newly sanded wood, the inside of the desk has been painted in dark green to cover the ink stains.

All the metalwork was taken off, the brassware was cleaned and polished, while the steel hinges were cleaned and painted black to compliment the new paintwork on the legs of both the desk and chair.
